Pauline F. (Philippe) Harris

Mrs. Pauline F. Philippe Harris, age 98, of 41 Lakeway Dr. Pittsfield, died Monday night at the Mt. Carmel Care Center, where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. Born in Thal, Switzerland, Dec. 7, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Pauline Mueller Philippe. She came to the U.S. at the age 7 and attended both the former St. Joseph's Grammar School and St. Joseph's Catholic Central High School. Initially employed at the former Pittsfield General Hospital, she became employed at the General Electric Co. during World War II. Primarily a homemaker, in her early years she loved working at the former Valley View Nursing Home.
A communicant of St. Mark's Church, Pauline enjoyed working in her garden, reading her novels and doing all forms of hand crafts.
She and her husband of 57 years, the late Guy D. Harris, were married Feb. 1, 1945, died Oct. 26, 2002.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Patricia A. Boroniec and her husband Walter, of Pittsfield, and Catherine M. Killeen and her husband, Raymond, of Cheshire, MA, her son, Guy "Butch" Harris and his wife, Pamela of Pittsfield, her 5 grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, Nick, Michael and Matthew and her 8 great-grandchildren, Ty, Nate, Braeden, J.P., Jillian, Cecelia, Zach and Lauren. She was predeceased by her brother, Alfred Philippe.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mark's Church at a later date. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to: Berkshire Humane Society, in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
