Margaret S. Pilot, 68, of Cheshire, MA died Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Berkshire Medical Center after an extended illness with her sister by her side.
Born in Pittsfield on March 20, 1951, Peggy was the daughter of the late William Pilot Jr. and Esther (Tsepas) Pilot. She was educated in the local schools and began her career as a nurse’s aide at Pittsfield General Hospital. She later earned her LPN certification from St. Luke’s School of Nursing before moving to Miami. She lived there for about 20 years and earned her Bachelors of Nursing Degree while working at the Miami-Dade County Hospital.
Peggy moved back to the Berkshires about 20 years ago and was established as an RN with the Berkshire County Visiting Nurses Association. Beyond helping others, her true passion in life was agility training for dogs. She spent countless hours travelling in her RV to dog shows all across the county. Her three dogs passed before her, and their names were Cie Cie, Sade and Jada.
Peggy also loved her home in Cheshire; she enjoyed gardening and flowers, and she loved her pool.
Peggy is survived by her sister, Cathy Pilot of Pittsfield, her nieces, Tammi Davis (husband Warren Davis), Carey Pilot and Heather Scott, many great nieces and one great nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, William Pilot, III and Steven Pilot and her sister Alexa Fortner.
There will be no public services.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, in care of the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home.
