Tribute

Philip H. Green, age 65, died Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Berkshire Medical Center after a period of declining health.

Born in Newport, Vermont on September 24, 1956, Phil was a son of the late Robert A. Green and Diana (Kelley) Green. He was educated in the Pittsfield schools and was a 1975 graduate of Taconic High School. He married the former Melinda Lee Hamling on March 17, 1978 and shortly thereafter the two bought their home on 3rd street.

Philip worked for Crane & Co. for 29 years as a paper maker and in their instrument shop. He then went on to work as a detailer and delivery person for Ronnie’s Cycle Shop.

Phil was the first to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was incredibly talented when it came to fixing things and there was never a job too big for him to handle.

He loved fishing, hunting, camping and simply being outdoors. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed riding his many Harleys. He also spent many years 4-wheeling in his 1976 Ford Bronco.

Phil was a family man and was incredibly close with Melinda’s family. They would often host pool parties at their house and enjoyed countless family picnics hosted by Mrs. Hamling.

In addition to his wife Melinda, Phil is survived by his son Benjamin M. Green (Brenda) of Pittsfield, his sister Judy Green of Pittsfield, his brother Scott Green of North Adams and his dear friend and neighbor of 32 years Pierre Mercier. He also leaves his brothers and sisters in law, Beth Ann Hamling (Steph), Janet Verge (Buddy), Jay Hamling, Mark Hamling (Nancy), and Jody Errichetto (Rocco), and many nieces and nephews who all adored Uncle Phil.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Jacqulyn Green who died in 1995, his sisters in law Betty Woodin and Ann Marie Hamling and his brother in law Bob Woodin.
