Rhoda S (Silverstein) Kaminstein of Pittsfield passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022.  Born in Ithaca, NY on May 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Belle (Kessell) Silverstein.

She was a graduate of Binghamton, NY Central High School, and continued her education at the former Latin American Institute.  She began her professional career working with IBM at the Endicott Plant One and later in New York City.  Making her home in the Berkshires since 1965, she was appointed Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires in 1981.  After retiring in 1989, Rhoda then served as the first woman President of Temple Anshe Amunim from 1993 – 1997.  She also served as President of the Jewish Federation and the local chapter of Hadassah.

Both she and her late husband, Phil, enjoyed travelling extensively, including to Israel and London as well as to many of the National Parks in the US.  Collecting paperweights from their travels was a favorite hobby.  An avid reader, Rhoda also enjoyed attending many of the musical and cultural events at Tanglewood and the various other local theatres.

Rhoda was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years, Phil, in 2019.  She is survived by her son Dan, his wife Wendy, and their children, Stephanie and Matthew, her sister-in-law Carole, two nephews, three grand-nieces and a grand-nephew.

Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cantorial Soloist Fund at Temple Anshe Amunim in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME which has been entrusted with Rhoda’s care.
