Robert John Burke, age 66, of Pittsfield died in the comfort of his home on Friday, June 17, 2022 after a long illness.
Born in Pittsfield on April 5, 1956, he was one of seven children of the late Almon F. Burke and Gladys E. (Alexander) Corrente. He was educated in the local schools and went on to work for Sub-N-Beef on North St. for many years. He later worked for Pepsi and retired in June of 2004 after 10 years of service.
An avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, he loved watching games and collecting memorabilia. He also enjoyed collecting Budweiser collectibles and steins, and fishing and ice fishing.
A wonderful dad (Pa Dukes) and grandfather (Pop Pop) as his grandchildren called him, Mr. and Mrs. Burke were always there to offer a warm home and meal to anyone who needed it. He loved being home and spending time with his family and his best friend and neighbor Ed Krzynowek.
He married the former MaryMargret Roy on November 10, 1979 at St. Joseph's Church where they have been members for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Tameka L. Burke (Brandon Carter) and Christina M. Burke (Nicholas Livingston), all of North Carolina, his best brother-in-law, Thomas Roy (Lisa) of Pittsfield, his grandchildren, Alexis, Deven, Alyjah, Leeah, Nevah, Kaylee, Damon, Teddie, Armani, Logan, Aiyanah, Eddie and Janiyah, and his siblings, Debra St. John of New York, JoAnn Yansak (Steven) of New York, and Angela Ali of Florida. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his sons, Theodore Burke in 2009, Edward Bigelow in 2010, and Matthew Bigelow in 2021. He was also predeceased by three siblings, Penny Kukevitch, Kathi Murphy and Dave Burke.
SERVICES: Calling Hours will be THURSDAY, June 23rd from 11-1PM at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home. A funeral home service will begin at 1PM led by Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, Pastor of St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
