Robert Leonard Presutti, Sr., age 88, of Pittsfield died at Berkshire Medical Center on April 6, 2023.
Bob was born in Hartford, CT on May 11, 1934, a son of Italian immigrant parents, Alfhonse and Elvira Presutti. He was a graduate of Hall High School.
Bob enlisted in the US Army on January 7, 1957. He served during the Korean War as an Infantryman and was honorably discharged on February 4, 1959 with the rank of Specialist Five.
Bob worked hard and spent much of his life as a civil engineer for different heavy construction companies. He moved to Pittsfield not long after his honorable discharge from the Army and made a life for himself here.
He joined RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) in 2008 and volunteered as a member of RSVP through Pittsfield Tree Watch and Pittsfield Community Development. He was also associated with the Herbert Arboretum for many years. From 2010-2022, Bob donated a total of 10,362 hours volunteering through RSVP utilizing his skills and knowledge as an arborist. Bob has the most lifetime hours of any other RSVP volunteer during that time. He was also instrumental in starting the chestnut tree orchard at Springside Park in Pittsfield and was a board member of the RSVP Advisory Board from 2011-2016.
Bob is survived by his three children, Lisa Holland and her husband Dave of St. Louis, MO, Robert Presutti, Jr. and Richard Presutti, both of Enfield, CT and his longtime companion and best friend of over 35 years, Rosemary Graves. He also leaves Rosemary’s son David Graves of Seattle, WA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was predeceased by his brother Rudy Presutti and his wife Barbara.
Friends are invited to join with the family on SATURDAY, April 15th at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home for visitation from 11-12 with a funeral home prayer service at Noon. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to "Friends of Springside Park" and mailed to the funeral home.
