Rosemary Sweeney Bernardo Mazur, age 83, of Pittsfield, died Friday, July 2, 2021 after a long battle with heart disease.
Born in Pittsfield on April 14, 1938, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Ralph N. and Harriet P. Bellinger Sweeney. She attended the local schools and was a 1956 graduate of the former Dalton High School. She later attended the former Berkshire Business College.
Rosemary moved to Florida in 1981 and received her real estate license. While there, she was active in property management. Upon her return to the Berkshires, she was a resident manager for the Berkshire Housing Authority at Hyde Place in Lee for 7 years before her retirement in 1999.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Hinsdale. She enjoyed music and dancing and was an avid golfer. She was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Rosemary is survived by her two sons, Ronald and John Bernardo, both of Pittsfield, her sister Gloria Baczek of Lenox, and her grandchildren, Robert, Jennifer and Sara Bernardo. She also leaves 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her grandson James Bernardo.
SERVICES: Friends are invited to join with the family on FRIDAY, July 23, 2021 from 10-11AM at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. A funeral home service will begin at 11AM with burial to follow at the Maple St. Cemetery in Hinsdale.
