Rosemary Mazzeo, age 78, 61 Lakeway Drive, Pittsfield, MA ,died January 4, 2022 at the Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness. She was born in Pittsfield, April 14, 1943, the daughter of the late Joseph Mazzeo, who was born in Pittsfield, and Lucy Maffuccio Mazzeo, born in Monteforte, Cilento, Italy.

Rosemary was educated in the local schools and after attending BCC was awarded her baccalaureate degree in Human Services from the former North Adams State College in 1980. Employed as a psycho therapist at Austen Riggs Center, Rosemary retired with 20 plus years of service there.

Rosemary was so full of life and shared her tremendous sense of humor, though at times irreverent! She loved her Double Bubblegum and her expressing her sense of creativity with art, including cartooning and characterizations. A shining example of her humor, her creativity and her irreverence, along with her artistic skills, became apparent when she was drawing a characterization of her 6th grade teacher.. and was caught by the teacher!

She is survived by her son, Richard N. Hopkins of Pittsfield, her daughters, Dawn M. Hopkins of Pittsfield, Lisa Depson, and her husband, Edward Depson of Cheshire, Theresa Hopkins and her husband, Jeffery Sayers of Pittsfield, Melissa Degere of Pittsfield, her two brothers, Michael Mazzeo and his wife Beverly of Lake Placid, Fl. and Joseph and his wife, Vicky Mazzeo of Novato, CA and her sister, Antoinette Perry and her husband, Chris  of Pittsfield, her 9 grandchildren, Cassandra Hopkins, Andrew Hopkins Sayers, Christiana Perry, Daniel Degere, Joseph Degere, Jordan Degere, Edward Depson, Heather Puntin, Amanda LeFebvre and her great grandbaby, Cora Dillard.

A grandson, Anthony Hopkins, predeceased her.

Calling hours at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home will be this FRIDAY, January 7, 2022 from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services, which will be livestreamed for all, will be SATURDAY, January 8, 2022 at 10am with the Rev. Christopher Fedoryshyn, pastor of St. Marks Church, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to “The Marian Fathers” and mailed to the funeral home.
