Mrs. Ruth T. Burnick Donovan, age 92, formerly of 17 Westwood Ave. Pittsfield, Ma, died Wednesday, August 18th at the Mount Carmel Care Center in Lenox.  Born in Pittsfield, September 2, 1928, she is the daughter of the late Charles F. and Mary Agnes Martin Burnick. Educated in the local schools, Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Completing her education, she became employed in the administrative offices at the former Sears & Roebuck Co.  Serving as financial support assistant there, Ruth retired after 15 years of service.  Later, she provided bookkeeping and administrative support both in retail and Downey Side Adoption Services.

A long time communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Ruth enjoyed reading, traveling, dining out, and was very good sewing and knitting.  She also was a founding member of the “Club”.  She loved staying in touch with her friends on family via telephone.

She and her husband of over 50 years, the late Wm. Paul Donovan, who died August 15, 2003, were married at St. Mary’s Church in Pittsfield on September 27, 1952.

She is survived by her son, Paul M. Donovan and his wife, Tina S. Donovan of Cypress, Tx. and their two children, Matthew Donovan and Lisa Donovan, both of Houston, Tx.

Calling hours for Ruth T. Burnick Donovan will be held WEDNESAY, Aug. 25th at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME beginning at 10:00 am.  A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Church with the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor officiating. Burial will follow next to her husband, in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Berkshire Boys and Girls Club.
