Tribute

Suzanne Nagelschmidt, 81, of Pittsfield MA died peacefully on December 19, 2024. She was born on January 20, 1943, the daughter of the late Frank and Carmella Davis of Pittsfield. She attended local schools and was a 1960 Honors graduate of Pittsfield High School. In her career, she was a Quality Assurance Specialist with the Department of the Navy until her retirement in 2002. She was a long-time communicant of St. Mark’s Church in Pittsfield where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and was always active in supporting church activities.

Among her many joys was listening to the Sunday morning Polish music radio shows, celebrating Wigilia (Polish Christmas Eve), making her pierogis, and sharing the oplatek, the Polish Christmas wafer, wishing all good health, happiness, and blessings for the coming year. Maintaining family traditions was always important to her.

Everyone who met Suzanne remembers her warm smile, gentle way, and caring heart. She always thought of others before herself, and was very charitable in giving to others in need. She was an avid reader and always enjoyed a good, heartwarming movie. Later in life, she took pleasure in trips to visit family and enjoyed attending local shows and concerts throughout the Berkshires and beyond. Her favorite travel time, though, were the yearly anniversary trips she and her husband, Bill, took each September to their favorite destination, Wells ME.

She is survived by her loving husband, William. They were married in Holy Family Church in Pittsfield on September 2nd, 1963, and this past year celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. She is also survived by her three children, David (Sue) Nagelschmidt of Pittsfield MA, Mark (Jane) Nagelschmidt of Marana AZ, and Lori (Sean) Klosek of North Las Vegas NV, and brother Michael (and “Sister” Donna) Davis of Dalton MA. She was the loving Babci to six grandchildren; Matthew (Emily) Nagelschmidt of Rochester NY, Ryan (Maritza Nary) Nagelschmidt of Danville PA, Jamie (Matt) Fischer of Denver CO, Jennifer (Adam) Molden of Tucson AZ, Jordan Klosek of Las Vegas NV and Shane (Kate) Klosek of Columbus OH. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Oliver, Wyatt, Geneva, and Dylan.

Services and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Ladies Guild of St. Mark’s Church, 400 West Street Pittsfield MA 01201. To send remembrances and share memories with her family, please visit www.devanny-condron.co
