Thomas R. Hayes Sr., age 69, of Pittsfield died November 4, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center after a long battle with heart disease.
Thomas was born in Albany, NY on January 7, 1954 and attended the local schools there. Following his high school graduation, he went on to enlist in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam. Among his many duty stations, Thomas was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Upon his honorable discharge, he served for many years in the National Guard.
Thomas was a hardworking man and spent much of his life as a roofer. He enjoyed history, especially reading about American History and watching programs on TV. He loved Rock & Roll music of the 60s and 70s and made sure his family learned to appreciate the great talents. Thomas was also an animal lover, especially his cat Pikachu. He was a skilled model builder and created many airplane and car models over the years.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Gage) Hayes, whom he married May 19, 2007.
He also leaves his children, Thomas Hayes Jr., Edward Hayes and Laurie Hayes, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and his brother-in-law Elmer Gage and his wife Theresa.
He was predeceased by his mother, Lorraine LaClair Williams, his father Herbert Hayes, his stepfather, James Williams, 2 brothers and a sister.
SERVICES: Friends are invited to gather on FRIDAY, November 10th from 2-3:30 PM with a Time of Remembrance to begin at 3:30PM at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to "Berkshire Humane Society" and mailed to the funeral home at 40 Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield, MA 01201
