Timothy Ryan DeMarco

June 23, 1985 ~ July 7, 2021 (age 36) 36 Years Old

Tribute

Timothy Ryan DeMarco, J.D., age 36, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, surrounded by his loving family, after a 17-month battle with lung cancer.
Tim was born June 23, 1985, in Warren, MI, the son of Dr. William and Ginny Costigan DeMarco of Pittsfield. The DeMarco family moved to Pittsfield in 1988 where Tim attended the Pittsfield Parochial Schools. A 2003 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School, he was then awarded his Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice from Stonehill College in 2007. During his senior year at Stonehill, Tim interned at the office of the former State Sen. Ben Downing. That internship led to a position at the law firm of Nelson Mullins in Boston. He attended Suffolk Law School in the evenings and was awarded his Juris Doctorate in 2012. Tim continued at Nelson Mullins as an associate specializing in consumer finance for many years, before moving to K & L Gates. Tim was later employed as an attorney at Citizens Disability, a Social Security disability advocacy group.
Tim married his love, Vanessa J. Long, on August 4, 2012. In January 2018 they fulfilled one of their dreams and moved to Hawaii to enjoy "Island living". Tim and Vanessa balanced working remotely while exploring Hawaii together. They chose to return to Pittsfield in April 2019 to be nearer to family and friends.
Tim was a lifelong sports fan and a proud Celtics season ticket owner. One of his favorite experiences was being at the Garden for the 2008 Championship with his brother Brian. Tim and Vanessa loved to travel - making many trips to Europe to enjoy the culture. Tim's one request on each trip, was a visit to a pub for a Bud Lite. When they weren't travelling, Tim loved to watch movies and historical documentaries at home with his beloved cat, Kitty.
In addition to his wife and parents, Tim is survived by his 3 brothers, William DeMarco, Jr. and his wife, Brianne, of Pittsfield, Brian DeMarco and his wife, Heather, of Plainville, MA, Dr. Daniel DeMarco of Pittsfield, and his sister, Katherine Swan and her husband, Darren, of Pittsfield. He also leaves his maternal grandmother, Mrs. John Costigan of Derby, CT, his in-laws, Ralph and Ann Long, Jr. of Malden, MA, his sisters-in-law Ann Marie Long and her partner Rick Meloski, Jennifer Bacon and her husband Mark, and Rachelle Packard and her husband Marc. His cherished nephews and nieces, Jarrett, Sammy, Ainsley, Brian, Mackenzie, Savannah, Samantha, Julianna and Gabriella will all miss Uncle Tim, as will Brian Mackey, Tim's closest and lifelong friend, his wife Elyse and their son and Tim's Godson, John Robert Mackey. Tim is also survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
