James Squires
May 27, 1935 ~ February 6, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years OldShare Tribute:
Mr. James D. Squires, age 81, of 41 Stratford Ave. Pittsfield, died Feb. 6, at the
Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Pittsfield, May 27,
1935, the son of the late William S. and Mary Ellen Daly Squires. Educated in the
local schools, he owned and operated the former Silver Lake Glass Shop as a
glazer for over 40 years. Upon his retirement, he became employed for 3 years by
Berkshire Farm Center for Services for Youth in its security dept..
A U.S. Army veteran, he served with the 101st Airborne Div. stationed
In Japan and later in Alaska during the mid 1950’s. A “ Huge Red Sox Fan”,
he most enjoyed his role as a ‘family man, a Dad and a Grandfather’ . He is
survived by his daughters, Jennifer D. Miller of Pittsfield , Erin L. Harrington, with
whom he made his home and Casey L. Squires of Pittsfield, his sister, Mary “ Bo “
Squires of Pittsfield, his 4 brothers, Richard and Robert Squires of Pittsfield,
Michael Squires of Colorado and David Squires of Arizona, his 6 grandchildren
5 great grandchildren and his great-great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by
his son, James D. Squires, Jr., who died Jan. 6, 2015, and his 2 brothers, William
and Jack Squires.
SQUIRES, JAMES D., age 81, of Pittsfield, died Feb 6th. A Celebration of his Life will be held SUNDAY morning , Feb. 12th at 11:00 am at THE DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Soldier On in care of the funeral home. .
